There is much talk about, and interest in, 'natural' landscaping. It has greatly changed the way people think about garden design, and has brought a new respect for the magnificent local flora of any part of the country. I have never enjoyed trying to force a plant to live in an alien environment. Our native plants are a delight to use, and the challenge of creating settings in which they are shown to their ornamental best is an equal pleasure. Rocky shores, deep woods, old meadows, swamps and bogs - whatever natural system your home is in, it can be incorporated into your home landscape design so that your home sits comfortably within its environment and gives back to it at the same time.
